DOING SPORTS AT SCHOOL IS WASTED TIME. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE??
MEKS
In many schools, doing sports is common and sports have become part of the curriculum, and include both theory and practice. This, of course, takes a certain amount of time. Therefore, from my point of view, at school, students should focus on studying rather than spending time doing sports.
For a start, doing physical exercises at school can distract children’s attention from studying. They have to allocate an amount of time for both doing sports and learning, diverting their concentration into two different activities. For example, if on one day, they are scheduled to learn subjects and do sports, their attention will be diverted into those two activities. This will reduce their concentration for their studies.
Secondly, the learning process, which requires students to be active in class, can be less effective if children play sports. One reason is that after doing sports, learners feel tired and this condition, of course, makes it difficult for them to concentrate, which can cause the learning process to be ineffective because children will not fully pay attention to the lessons. The learning process may become a monologue and group discussions may not run effectively when children are tired. For example, if students find it difficult to focus, they might choose not to participate, just waiting until the end of the class, and the teacher will be the only speaker in the class.
Finally, Physical exercises are often done at a time which is effective for studying. In Indonesia, for example, sports are often done in the morning which, in my opinion, is better for learning. This is because children are fresher in the morning.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that sports should not be done at schools. Students should focus on their core activity which is studying.
