TABLE WRITING

The table shows total capture of marine fish in two periods (1989-1991 and 1999-2001) among eight regions (Asia, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, North America, Central America and Caribbean, South America, Oceania).

It can be seen from the table that there was a slight increase in the amount of ocean fish in Asia, Middle East and North African, sub-Saharan Africa, South America and Oceania. In Asia, for example, total capture of marine fish increased from 25, 427 thousand metric tones in 1989-1991 to 28, 102 (thousand metric tones) in 1999-2001.

Conversely, in other regions, total catch of ocean fish decreased slightly over two periods. As can be seen from the table, in Europe, the amount of ocean fish caught was 18,033 (thousand metric tones) in 1989-1991, declining to 14,315 (thousand metric tones) in 1999-2001.

In addition, Asia, Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa are the top three areas respectively that had the highest amount of ocean fish caught. However, in 1999-2001, total capture of ocean fish in Sub-Saharan Africa was higher than that in Europe.
