READING AND WRITING THE SUMMARY OF A STORYBOOK AS THE PUNISHMENT
Educational punishment is a type of punishments that parents use to discipline their children. The specific type that is common is that children are asked to read a storybook and write its summary. This type of punishment brings benefits.
This activity can enhance children’s vocabulary. This is useful because childhood is the period when language ability is developed. Reading can also increase children’s abstract thinking ability by stimulating them to make pictures in their mind of what they are reading. In addition, children also learn how to write. In this stage, they can develop their logical thinking by arranging ideas of what they have read in chronological order before writing.
In my opinion, this type of punishment should be retained because of its advantages in developing children’s abstract thinking and language ability.
