IELTS WRITING EXERCISE

Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The balance between male and female is one of the issues that has spread lately. It has been an important part of our life. Almost all policies focus on the balance between both, male and female. This issue has entered in all aspects in our life. One aspect that is influenced is higher education. Universities as the higher education institution should accept equal numbers of students in every subject. Some people agree with it but others disagree.

The reasons why university should accept equal numbers of students in every subject are first, it will be fair that both have got the same chance to study at university level. They will, therefore, share their knowledge, ideas. In addition, different sexes have different style when they are in groups, so all members can learn how to understand each other. That is additional experience that they will get from.

In contrast, each student has right to choose what subject they want to study. Therefore, universities should categorize students into subjects that they want to study . As a result, each subject will have different numbers of students. Moreover, student's ablility has to be considered as the factor before they register a subject. If universities just consider about equal numbers of male and female, they will gain low quality students because there is no rigorous selection before accepting them as students. For example, if there are just twenty students that choose a subject, twelve of them are male and others are female. After testing, most of the male have higher score, it is not better if we divide them in to the same number of male and female for that subject.

I therefore disaggre that universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. It will diminish universities' quality because students are not eligible enough to join that course. I hope there is tough procedures in universities before accepting students.

GROWING UP IN A BIG CITY AND GROWING UP IN SMALL CITY

COMPARE AND CONTRAST
GROWING UP IN A BIG CITY AND GROWING UP IN SMALL CITY

Growing up in a big city and growing up in a village yield different styles for those who grow up in . Almost all aspects in their life are influenced by the style of life from each where they grow up. Social life and the use of time are two aspects related to it.

First of all, those who grow up in a big city will be more individual. All activities they do focus on what they want to do and to achieve. They also, furthermore, do not care about others for they assume that others have their own routines. In Jakarta, for example, each person does hir/her work and do not care about others. The indication for this is that they do not smile or greet when they meet someone whom may be they know. In addition, it is difficult to find them “working together” in their community. It is different from those who grow up in a village. They look more friendly and care about others. For example, you are able to find “working together” culture such as cleaning routines, security system in village. Another example is that they can call their neighbours to help them when they are in probems such as get sick, death of a close family number etc. because of the different characteristic between them, it will impact to their manner to use time.

Time is important element in people’s life. Growing up in a big city or a village underlies how they spend their time. For those who grow up in a big city, time is essential. They have to manage their time well because it will effect to their productivity in that day. For example, when a course starts at 08.00 am, they should prepare everything two or three hours before because they have to consider other things such as traffic jam, etc. In addition, they also have to schedule their work so all work are organized well and can be productive for that day. Conversely, if they grow up in a small city, generally, they can use their time for many things because they do not consider manythings such as traffic jam. For example, when they have to start their work at 08.00 am, they can go there one or a half hour before so one or two hours remaining can be used for other productive routines. As a result, they can be more productive. Although they will be more productive, it depends on how they manage their time and what activities they do.

In conclusion, whereas it depends on people themselves, I agree that growing up in a small city is better than that in a big city because being friendly and having more time are the factors why I agree to.
